Improving Productivity
Occupational health is a specialist branch of medicine that focuses on the physical and mental wellbeing of employees in the workplace. So how is Workability Solutions different? Well, Workability Solutions flexes to ensure that you are supporting and managing your colleague’s workplace health in the most cost-effective way.
So, who are our clients and why do they come to us?
Our clients are small and medium-sized employers where individual productivity has a huge impact on business success. Despite hard work to address attendance and absence, productivity levels don’t improve, and workplace incidents tend to increase.
What is the solution to this?
The Expert Patient approach is designed to help you cope with your health conditions, find solutions to cope and feel more in control at work. Similarly, the Reasonable Adjustments approach ensures that employers fulfil their legal duty to make reasonable adjustments where an employee faces a large disadvantage at work.
Andrew Mars was referred to us following hospital treatment for a wrist condition that had a significant impact on his productivity. His employer at a heavy manufacturing environment put in adjustments, a work buddy and support in place to safeguard him, this was due to his past history of seizures from a stroke.
How do we help?
From a confidential consultation with our Occupational Health Nurse Consultant a health improvement plan was devised using the Expert Patient approach, this plan concentrated on the employee and ensured that the employer could easily include into their business. Furthering this, the Ergonomic Assessment delved into environmental, functional, physical, psychological and motivational issues in the workplace. In addition to this, photographs helped identify risks for muscular strain and over-reach.
Several months later Andrew showed a significant improvement in his workplace health. He had managed his own recovery and was no longer reporting any health issues to his employer.
